Visitor Information and FAQs

We look forward to welcoming our visitors to the 2024 National Shire Horse Show.  The Show dates are 8th, 9th & 10th March and it will be held indoors at Staffordshire County Showground, Weston Road, Stafford, ST18 0BD.

Some of the questions we are asked are listed below.  

Please note the office and telephone will be unmanned from the Thursday prior to the Show owing to staff being on site.  The office will re-open the following Tuesday.

 

Is the show held indoors?
Yes it is.
What time do the public gates open?
They open each day for the public at 7:30am.
Can I bring my trade stand to your Show?
Yes please do visit our trade stand section and download the application form or contact the office on 01536 771611 or email for further information.
Can I purchase tickets at a discounted price in advance?

I've purchased my tickets online but now I cannot find my e-ticket email.
No problem please click here to obtain this information.
Can I purchase tickets on the gate?
Yes tickets can be purchased on the gate by cash or card.
Can I pay on the gate by a card payment?
Yes card payments can be taken on the gate.
Do you offer carer's tickets?
If a visitor has a full-time carer or attendant, that carer can have access to the event free of charge by applying before Friday 24th February 2024 with supporting documentation to:

The Shire Horse Society, The Old Dairy, Rockingham Castle, Market Harborough, Leicestershire, LE16 8TH.

Please note that advance tickets will only be provided upon satisfactory proof that the attendant is a carer.
What are the prices for children?
Children under 5 years of age are admitted free of charge. Ticket prices for children aged 5-13 start from£8.00 (prior to 25/12/2023) in advance and £12.00 on the gate. A family ticket is available on Friday and Saturday from £34.00 in advance and £45.00 on the gate. Please note children under 13 yrs gain complimentary admission on Sunday but not on Saturday but only when accompanied by an adult.
Can I sponsor part of the Show?
Sponsorship starts from just £50.00 and comes with many benefits. Donations are very welcome too and the Society is grateful to those that help with this. Please call the office on 01536 771611.
Where can I find local accommodation?
We cannot recommend anywhere in particular but suggest you look at www.booking.com to find accommodation to suit your requirements.
Is there car parking?
Yes, the Showground has plenty of parking spaces and car parking is free.
Can I bring my dog to the National Show?
We welcome all well behaved dogs on short leads and ask their owners to clear up after them.
Is there a cash machine at the National Show?
No sorry we don't have one on site.
Can I bring my caravan/motorhome/tent and stay for the period of the Show?
We do offer a number of spaces with or without electricity on the Showground and full details are available in our Caravan Section or simply call the office on 01536 771611 to reserve and pay for your space.
I am staying on the caravan field are there showers and toilets?
Yes there are clean and well equipped facilities located near to the caravan site.
I am not a member of the Society, but would like to attend the Party Night (ticketed event with entertainment) on the Saturday is this possible?
We welcome both members and non-members to the Party Night.
I am staying on site, where can I eat and drink in the evening?
The Stockman's (Drayman's) will be open from 4pm on Friday 8th and Saturday 9th March.

Is there WiFi at the Show?
Yes
