"Never before has the Royal Welsh Show done so much to please lovers of the heavy horse! For years there’s been nothing for trade exhibitors and in-hand Shires have been restricted to a such a small area of the Grand Ring that the public had to stand six deep or watch with binoculars.
This year everything’s changed! On all four days ten splendid drays with Shires, Clydesdales, Percherons and Canadian Belgians performed a wonderful musical drive. On the last day, the atmosphere was tremendous as grooms with enormous smiles waved to the cheering crowds. Grand Ring space for the in-hand Shires was doubled, stretching from the old area near the collecting ring to the grandstand so everyone could watch in comfort. Horses gave their individual shows alongside the rails so the view couldn’t have been better!
