"Of all the one-day events in the country, there can’t be any more enjoyable than this lovely show, nor one run by friendlier people, and Bailey Park, with its tall trees shading horses outside the ring and its view of the Sugar Loaf Mountain, is a perfect setting.
The Supreme Championship went to the Senior Champion, Saredon Elinsore, Elizabeth Whitehouse’s daughter of Metheringham Upton Hamlet. “Elsie”is a nine-year-old bay out of Saredon Stella by Holmewood Samson and named after the castle where Shakespeare’s Hamlet lived. As well as winning championships in hand, she competes in dressage. In reserve was Jason Holder’s Skeldon Moor Cinderella, a dark bay daughter of Corney Mill Spencer and Kings Top Totty who was second to “Elsie” in the barren mare class, and is also very successful as a riding horse.
Colin Horler’s filly, Radford Cilla, added another Junior Championship to her tally of wins. A black three-year-old, she is by Metheringham Upton Sidney out of Cowerslane Katy. Philip Moss’ grey yearling colt Sparkland Rodney finished Reserve Junior Champion at his first ever show. A son of Catwg Welsh Challenger, he is out of Sparkland Grace.
Chad-Tavis Rowson’s impressive bay three-year-old, Stapley Hill Kingston, by Colloe Grove Turbo, was the best stallion. Alex Mason enjoyed a good show with her Clydesdales. Jackton’s Fanta, a striking roan four-year old by Doura Master Eddie, repeated last year’s success in the class for any other breed, and Barnahill Chester, a seven-year-old by Mollinhellhead Celebrity, won the ridden class and qualified for Equifest.
Barrie Yeates took first, second and third places in the decorated harness classes with Landcliffe Black Prince, Cowerslane Hamlet and Nashes Mr Tumble. His new horse, Landcliffe Black Prince, a son of Landcliffe Charlie, also won the senior gelding class.
Katrina and Alan Langford won the class for an agricultural or show turnout with Blaencillech O’Driscoll and Peakstones Brigadier harnessed to a very handsome brewer’s dray. "
