Shire horse breeders - please take part in a breeding survey
Thank you to everyone who filled in the Rare Breeds Survival Trust (RBST) survey last autumn on why people decide to breed rare breeds of horse like the Shire. This is part of RBST's Equine Conservation Project, which aims to help them improve their support for the rare equine breeds.
As the next part of the project, they are now doing another survey to collect information on efforts to get mares in foal last year. This short survey asks questions like the age of mares that were bred, whether natural service or AI, the number of times the mare was served, and time of year.
If you bred a mare last year, or tried to breed one, please fill in the survey here Reproduction Data Collection (google.com) It won't take long and you don't have to name the mare or stallion if you don't want to. If you bred more than one mare, please fill in the form separately for each mare.
The Shire Horse Society encourages all breeders to take part. Your input is important to help make the results as useful as possible to you and other Shire breeders.
If you didn't fill in the other survey last year, it's not too late. Please complete it here Native Equine Breeding Decisions Survey (google.com).
